About Me

I am a fine art photographer, based in Kansas City, Missouri.

As a child, growing up only three blocks from the famed Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, I felt a deep attraction to the world of art.   It was, however, much later in my life that I became seriously interested in photography.   I studied the subject under the tutelage of the late, great teacher, John Gutowski, whose influence I feel still affects the images I make.

In my 16-plus year career, I have been involved with many types of photographic endeavors.   I was fortunate to have been asked to shoot the photos for a children's book, Women Working A-Z, by Maria A. Kunstadter, published by Highsmith Press in 1994.   I also worked briefly as a children's portrait photographer, first with Lifetouch, and then with Tommy Austin Studios.   In addition, working on a free-lance basis for the Sun-News of the Northland, I rounded out my commercial experience.   But my real passion has always been fine art photography.

I am particularly drawn to nature subjects, again due to childhood circumstances.   In addition to our house near the museum, my parents had inherited an 80 acre farm near the Lake of the Ozarks.   I grew to love the natural world there; thus my excitement and deep appreciation for the beauty of nature became the lifelong focus of my work.
